Unit weight in kg per metre = D² ÷ 162, where D is the bar diameter in millimetres. A 12 mm bar weighs 0.888 kg/m and a standard 12 m bar about 10.7 kg.

Why D²/162?
Steel density is 7,850 kg/m³. Weight of one metre of a round bar = π/4 × D² × 7850 ÷ 10⁶, which simplifies to D²/162.2.
