How this is calculated
Bricks = net wall volume ÷ volume of one brick including a 10 mm mortar joint. Mortar = wall volume − volume of the bricks themselves.
Wet mortar is converted to dry volume (×1.33) and split by the cement : sand ratio. A 5% breakage allowance is added to bricks.

How many bricks are there in 1 cubic metre?
About 500 modular bricks (190 × 90 × 90 mm) with 10 mm joints, or roughly 480–490 traditional Indian bricks (230 × 110 × 75 mm).
Which mortar ratio should I use?
1:6 is common for 9-inch internal walls, 1:4 for 4.5-inch partition walls and exposed or load-bearing work.
